Complacency is a bad place to be with the Lord. The Lord recently had me bring forth a sermon on this topic. He also had me pray during the active prayer portion of our Sunday church service at Jesussaves.churchonline.org. He had me pray against this spirit and what it has done to the body of Christ. More on that later, first let’s discuss complacency. The scriptures have much to stay about this, being stagnant, lukewarm or not growing in the Lord.
Scriptures that speak of complacency.
Proverbs 1:32 For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them; Wow, complacency can bring destruction upon a person!
Revelations 3:15-16 ‘I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. ‘So because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. Do you want Jesus to spit you out of His mouth? A lukewarm person is a stagnant, complacent person.
Isaiah 32:9-11 Rise up, you women who are at ease, Hear my voice; You complacent daughters, Give ear to my speech.10 In a year and some days You will be troubled, you complacent women; For the vintage will fail, The gathering will not come.11 Tremble, you women who are at ease; Be troubled, you complacent ones; Strip yourselves, make yourselves bare, And gird sackcloth on your waists. We see in this scripture that complacency brings trouble, failure with no gathering. It is also spoke that they should repent, humble themselves and pray. This is what is meant by gird sackcloth on your waists.
1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Ann received a word from the Lord just a day before I preached on complacency. That it was a spirit, a demon. Complacency has been released upon the body of Christ. It is one of the seducing spirits spoken about in 1 Timothy 4:1. What’s interesting about this is that she didn’t tell me this until after I preached on the topic. I came to her and said, “complacency is a spirit”. She said, ” I know the Lord showed me that yesterday”. The Lord was confirming to us both that we were hearing from Him regarding this. It is time for the church and you to be delivered of complacency.
What to do.
Have you been complacent in your relationship with the Lord? What about with your spouse, family, work, school life or other areas? Repent from it immediately. Break any generational curses and curses you may have brought upon yourself. Bind up all spirits of complacency and command them out of your life! Then pray for the body of Christ to be loosed from complacency. Break the bonds of complacency off of the body in Jesus name!
